Mambabasang Pinoy

Blog name: Mambabasang Pinoy

Blog URL:

Location: Imus, Cavite

From Sandman to Marvel to DC.

Dark Chest of Wonders

Blog name: Dark Chest of Wonders

Blog URL:

Location: Manila, Philippines

Brief Description: Dark Chest of Wonders is a book blog maintained by a restless, soul in limbo who goes by the weird name of jzhunagev. This gloomy alley is where he mostly rant and rave about books that delighted him, moved him, disturbed him, angered him, provoked him, mocked him, taunted him, and shattered and exploded his brain into smithereens, the books he hoards, his odd reading quirks and pretty much just about any stuff that preoccupies him.

About jzhunagev: Hi! I’m jzhunagev! Reading books is my life and I have always been entranced by the power of words. I love the pull of a good, well drawn story, regardless of what age it is written for, no matter what genre it belongs, whether it’s fiction or not, whether it’s written in ink on paper or pixels on screen, or as a limerick. If it reaches for utter humanity, in jest or in earnest, I’m going to like it. 😉

Favorite Authors: Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Stephen King, Miguel Syjuco, Michael Crichton, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Richard Matheson, Ken Follett, J.M. Coetzee, Clive Barker, Ray Bradbury

go ahead and make believe

Blog Name: go ahead and make believe

Blog URL:

Location: Cebu City

Brief Description: All my life, I have looked to books and movies to escape from the mundane life of everyday things. Books for quiet moments when even the tiniest sounds can jar my most sensitive moods while movies for those when words and pictures are not enough to make me come alive with mirth, pain, passion and verve. Together, they are my sweet escape, the surrender that I’m wont to never regret. Without them, life is but an ordinary walk in the park–not much color, little splash.

This blog is about them – movies and books and the adventures they bring into my world (real or imaginary). A little sprinkling of life and how its treating me so far can also be found. Now, a word to the wise. Not everything here will suit the taste of even the least astute film or book critic, nevertheless these are my thoughts and much like everyone else, I am entitled to them. Having said that, I welcome you all. Hope you enjoy your stay, no matter how short, long, random or accidental it may be. Leave a comment if you please and see you whenever!

Favorite Authors: Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Fulghum, JK Rowling, James Herriot, Lisa See, Isabel Allende, Roald Dahl, Mitch Albom, Nicholas Sparks, Audrey Niffenegger, Janet Fitch, Terry McMillan, John Grisham, Charles Dickens, James Patterson, Victoria Holt, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Jean Webster, Louisa May Alcott, Hans Christian Andersen, Brothers Grimm, William Shakespeare and whoever brilliant author comes my way 🙂

I am a lot of these things but I am also a self-confessed geek, book collector, indie lover, graphic novel enthusiast, constant moviegoer and die-hard music fan. You can say that I almost live inside the bookshop because I’m always here, hanging out between the shelves, following the staff around, snooping for tidbits about the goings-on in the literary world. Books have fascinated me since I was very, very small which is why I feel so at home here. Hang around and let’s discover a world of never-ending stories together!
